ETS2 on Steam doesn't have any product key. If you are tring to find it for registering on World of Trucks, click on the "Sign in through Steam" button on the join page [worldoftrucks.com]. It forces me to create another account, where I already have ONE, where my ATS2 is bound.

I got the full version of this game by downloading it, and you can run the game Non-Steam. no, you cannot run the version bought in steam without steam running.
Another option is to try and start ATS right from the install location if you have login information saved for Steam. If login information is not saved, then there is no way to start the game. On a default install: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\American Truck Simulator\bin\win_x64. Start the .exe, let is go as it tries to connect.

metpei Feb 22, 2020 @ 5:30am. Make sure you don't use steam cloud profile! Start steam in offline mode and play ETS2 without WoTr online jobs! Works 100% sure! If you try to start steam online without working net, steam will stuck and you need to restart windows. Don't use any online gamestarters like TMP. #5. You should also take a look at American truck simulator at 6$ at the moment and Eurotruck simulator at around 5$, it's not expensive for two great games! I prefer American truck simulator for the scenery, the trucks, the truck sounds and the graphics but i'm probably a little bit biased due to the fact that I live in north America ( Canada) ;)

When I drove a truck for like a year I found this game and started playing it, my RL skills and in-game skills don't match at all. Although it's a simulator, there are always thing that just can't be simulated the way you would face things in RL. Just play the game with the thought of trying to match reality, but keep in mind it's just a game.
